New Haven County resident Marcus Johnson, age 41, of Waterbury, was charged on Friday, May 5, with one count each of unemployment compensation fraud and larceny, according to the Office of the Chief State's Attorney.
The arrest is the result of an investigation following a complaint by the Connecticut Department of Labor.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Johnson fraudulently collected approximately $24,686 in unemployment benefits from August 2020 to March 2021.
According to the affidavit, Johnson was working full-time and failed to report his wages while he was collecting unemployment benefits.
Johnson was released on a promise to appear in New Britain Superior Court, on Thursday, May 11.
He faces up to 20 years in prison and fines.
